What is WestSHARE Goal-Sharing???

It is a performance management and compensation program linking dollars to performance. Lump sum cash award in a separate check if our 2 goals are met. Read below for more info...

WestSHARE includes 2 different organizational performance measures that must both be successfully accomplished by the end of the current fiscal year in order to share the rewards with employees. The Board of Trustees establishes the annual guidelines. The 2 goals currently being measured are patient satisfaction and total financial margin.

Patient satisfaction (overall inpatient):

Must achieve an annual 90% rating. Maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction is an overarching goal for WestCare. Our health system has always taken great pride in our ability to fulfill our patients' needs. Our goal is to maintain a 90% or above on our "overall" inpatient satisfaction score. This rating will include the scoring of all aspects of our inpatient service delivery.

Financial - Total Margin:

Must achieve the margin established by the Board of Trustees margin based on the current year budget (Total Margin = Net Revenue minus Expenses). Controlling our operating expenses and increasing our net revenue is important to WestCare's financial success. Expenses include anything that costs WestCare money. Net Revenue reflects how much money we actually collect for our services.

Criteria & Pay-out

Both above-mentioned goals must be achieved in order for a pay-out to occur. Pay-out occurs in February after an official audit. The lump sum cash award does not tie to base pay. WestSHARE funds will be derived from meeting the established total margin (meeting goal #2 funds goal #1).

What are the pay connections?

They are 1) individual performance; 2) organizational performance; and 3) team performance.

What is the projected outcome of this compensation program?
  • Reinforcement of WestCare's values, mission and business objectives in job performance expectations & compensation;
  • Alignment of our compensation system with business and human resource strategies that maintain a high level of quality and patient satisfaction by motivating, retaining and attracting a competent, caring workforce;
  • A performance management system that encourages individual growth and development, promotes more interaction, feedback and coaching between supervisors and staff, improves performance, and rewards performance appropriately and equitably; and
  • Increase in employee involvement, teamwork and ownership in WestCare's clinical and business success.

WestCare employees have an impact on how well the WestSHARE goal-sharing program works. In every department at WestCare, employees are responsible for how well they perform their jobs. Performing your job well means making patients and families satisfied, providing quality service and completing your job as efficiently as possible. With the help of every employee, WestCare Health System will continue to be successful and remain a viable organization in the future.

When WestCare reaches its goals (patient satisfaction and total margin) for the fiscal year, all eligible employees who worked a minimum of 400 hours before September 30th received a lump sum check...so, join our team and share the success we are all working together to achieve.
